By Your Side Program

Enjoy watching your puppy learn but need the support of your very own puppy training expert to get you through the sticky parts of training? Then this program is for you. We train with you and your pup each week to meet the needs of your puppy and achieve your specific goals.  Our puppy experts work hands on with your puppy and with you! Homework is made easy and fun! We check in with you frequently to ensure you are making progress and moving toward your goals.

Do It For Me Program

Have a busy schedule and need to get right to the results? Then this program is best.  Unlike Board and Train where your puppy lives in an unfamiliar place, your puppy stays in your home where he should be. Our puppy training expert works with your puppy several times a week. Training is efficient and effective. Then we meet with you once a week to show you how to use what your puppy has learned.  You can watch the trainer at work or go about your day on other projects.

Why should I socialize my puppy?

You’ve probably heard how important it is to socialize your puppy. Maybe you searched for "puppy training classes near me?" and wonder if it's a safe way to socialize your pup. Then some advice tells you not to take your puppy anywhere until all vaccinations are given. It can all be so confusing. We’re here to make sense of it all and guide you through safely socializing your puppy.

The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior recommends that owners take advantage of every SAFE opportunity to expose young puppies to the great variety of experiences they will have in their lives. Our puppy trainers are experts at safely socializing your puppy as early as 8 weeks of age in a sanitized environment where risk of illness is minimized.  This early socialization is the best foundation you can give your 8 week old puppy to prevent fearful and aggressive behavior down the road.  It’s like a vaccination for behavior problems!

Why does my teenage dog not listen to me?

My puppy did everything I asked when he was younger. Now it seems like he’s just forgotten everything.  Is that normal?  Absolutely!  At about 4-6 months of age, it might seem like your perfect puppy suddenly becomes a wild one.  This is the juvenile period, equivalent to elementary school aged children. Your puppy may stop coming when you call, have wild energy sprees, and seem to get into everything again.  She might even start barking at other dogs or protecting her toys from you.  This is a normal part of development and can be incredibly challenging for a pet parent.  The key is continued training and socialization experiences through the juvenile period which ends around 6 to 9 months of age. Then you enter the wonderful teenage period that will continue until your dog matures at about 2 years of age. Once more your teenager needs training and socialization experiences that will lay the foundation for your life together. We support you through it all. Once your puppy graduates from Puppy Preschool or Buddy Basics, our Middle School Mutts programs helps you through the difficult teenage phase then sets you up to practice going on adventures in the Adventure Academy.

  • Typically once a week with our By My Side Program. Typically 3 times a week with your puppy in the Do It For Me Program, then once a week with you.

  • If you believe your puppy is showing aggressive behavior, call us to speak with an expert. We’ll make sure you get set up in the best program.

  • If your puppy shows unusual fearfulness for their age, we will consult with our staff Behaviorists and make sure you get in the right program.

  • This is the first session with your puppy expert. We set goals for your puppy, set you up to take advantage of our unique features, and start your puppy’s training.
